Jean Roberts

Jean is a dynamic and engaging speaker who has over 40 years of professional experience in the SME and Nonprofit Sectors – as partner in a family business, community worker, company director, entrepreneur, nonprofit Board member, researcher, observer, consultant, trainer, mentor and writer.

Much to share in the way of:

      •  case studies and scenarios,
      •  human and organisational dynamics,
      •  effects of imposed or unexpected change,
      •  effective communication - and the impact of technology on effectiveness,
      • proactive, reactive and crisis management,
      •  workplace behaviour and ethics,
      •  the links between strategic planning and individual work plans,
      • the critical link between role clarity and individual job satisfaction, and
      • the minefield of cultural change.

In her 2008 book, One Man Show – the smallest of small business:

- Jean offers strategies, tools and checklists for intending and established SMEs.  Shakespeare is her role model - a small business man of note!  If we think we have difficulties and challenges in this day and age, we need to consider the those facing a micro-business or SME between 1580 and 1613.  And those years were ‘today’ for Shakespeare.  It’s both useful and interesting to compare today’s experience as a small business person with Shakespeare’s!

2008 also saw the publication of her three Governance Kits for Nonprofit Boards - expanding on her 2004 CD ROM Managing Governance in Nonprofit Organisations in Australia, and building on her 6 years of action-research into the training and support needs of voluntary committees of management from 1989 to 1996.

Earlier books cover management and leadership styles, establishing teams, community development, competitive tendering, outsourcing, submissions and grant applications - all the while managing complex issues such as ethics, trust and innovation.
